পাকিস্তানে জাকাত নিতে গিয়ে পদদলিত হয়ে অন্তত ১২ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। শুক্রবার (৩১ মার্চ) দেশটির করাচিতে একটি বেসরকারি কোম্পানির কর্মীদের পরিবারের মধ্যে জাকাত বিতরণের সময় এ ঘটনা ঘটে।

নিহতদের মধ্যে ৯ জন নারী ও তিন শিশু রয়েছে। আহত পাঁচজনকে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।-খবর তোলপাড় ।

জানা গেছে, এফকে ডাইং নামে ওই কোম্পানি জাকাত বিতরণের জন্য তাদের কর্মীদের পরিবারকে আমন্ত্রণ জানায়। সেখানে প্রায় ৪০০ নারী ও শিশু এসেছিলেন। এক পর্যায়ে লাইনে থাকারা একে অপরকে ধাক্কা দিতে শুরু করলে বিশৃঙ্খল পরিস্থিতির সৃষ্টি হয়। ধাক্কাধাক্কির এক পর্যায়ে অনেকেই পদদলিত হন। ঘটনার সময় কোম্পানির মালিক সেখানে ছিলেন না।

এ ঘটনায় দায়িত্বে অবহেলার অভিযোগে প্রতিষ্ঠানটির বেশ কয়েকজনকে আটক করা হয়েছে। তাদের বিরুদ্ধে মামলার প্রস্তুতি নেওয়া হচ্ছে বলে জানা গেছে।
