ট্রাম্পের বিরুদ্ধে ৪টি ফৌজদারি মামলায় প্রায় ৯০টি অভিযোগ রয়েছে। আসন্ন প্রেসিডেন্ট নির্বাচনে তিনি রিপাবলিকান দলের ফ্রন্ট-রানার। জয়ী হলে ২০জানুয়ারি ২০২৫-এ হোয়াইট হাউসে উঠবেন। হারলে জেলে যাবার সম্ভবনা বাড়বে। তার জয়ের সম্ভবনা উজ্জ্বল। নির্বাচন মঙ্গলবার ৫ই নভেম্বর ২০২৪। প্রতিদ্ধন্ধী প্রেসিডেন্ট জো বাইডেন। বয়সের ভারে ন্যূজ প্রেসিডেন্ট বাইডেন ইউক্রেন ও গাজা যুদ্ধ নিয়ে লেজে-গোবরে অবস্থায় আছেন। মার্কিন ভোটাররা এবার ট্রাম্প না বাইডেন-কাকে ভোট দেবেন, এনিয়ে বিড়ম্বনায় আছেন, অনেকেই বলছেন তারা কাউকেই চাচ্ছেন না?

নিউইয়র্কে ট্রাম্পের বিরুদ্ধে একটি মামলা চলছে। প্রতিদিন তিনি হাজিরা দিচ্ছেন। তিনি বিচারক, সাক্ষী, জুড়ি কারো বিপক্ষে কথা বলতে পারছেন না, ‘গ্যাগ’ অর্ডার আছে। প্রতিনিয়ত তিনি গ্যাগ অর্ডার ভাঙ্গছেন, এ পর্যন্ত ১০বার ভেঙ্গেছেন, বিচারক ফাইন করছেন। বলেছেন, এরপর জেলে পাঠাবেন। মার্কিন ইতিহাসে এমন ঘটনা আগে ঘটেনি। একজন সাবেক প্রেসিডেন্ট ফৌজদারি অপরাধে কাঠগড়ায়।  তার বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবসায় জালিয়াতি সংক্রান্ত ৩৪টি অভিযোগ, দোষী সাব্যস্ত হলে তার ৪বছর পর্যন্ত জেল হতে পারে। এটিকে সংক্ষেপে ‘হাস মানি ট্রায়াল’ বলা হচ্ছে।

২০১৬-এ নির্বাচনের আগে মডেল স্ট্ররমি ড্যানিয়েলের মুখ বন্ধ রাখতে ট্রাম্প ১লক্ষ ৩০ হাজার ডলার দিয়েছেন। অর্থ দেয়াটা অপরাধ নয়, বলা হচ্ছে, অর্থ দেয়ার প্রক্রিয়াটি অবৈধ। স্ট্ররমি ড্যানিয়েল সাক্ষ্য দিয়েছেন। সবকিছু খোলামেলা বলেছেন। কথা বলতে না পারলেও ট্রাম্প চোখেমুখে বিরক্তি প্রকাশ করছিলেন। বিচারক ট্রাম্পের উকিলদের সতর্ক করে দেন্। ট্রাম্প পক্ষ ইতিমধ্যে দু’বার ‘মিস-ট্রায়াল’ দাবি করেন, বিচারক তা নাকচ করেন্। আমায় একজন প্রশ্ন করেছে যে, দাদা, এতসব ঝামেলা নিয়ে ট্রাম্প ঘুমায় কি করে?

নিউইয়র্কের মামলায় ট্রাম্প যদি দোষী সাব্যস্ত হ’ন, তাহলেও রায়ের কার্যকারিতা হতে হতে বছর চলে যাবে। ট্রাম্প আপিল করবেন, রায় বাতিল চাইবেন, ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি। তদুপরি মামলাটি ‘মিস-ট্রায়াল’ হবার সম্ভবনা উড়িয়ে দেয়া যায়না। মামলাটি ‘হ্যাং-জুড়ি’ হতে পারে, অর্থাৎ জুরিরা একমত নাও হতে পারেন। জর্জিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আইনের প্রফেসর কারেন মরিসন বলেছেন, ‘ট্রাম্প ভাগ্যবান ব্যক্তি’। নিউইয়র্ক ল’ স্কুল প্রফেসর আন্না কমিনস্কি বলেছেন, নিউইয়র্কের মামলা শেষ হবে, আপিল ইত্যাদি শেষ হতে হতে নির্বাচনের ফলাফল হয়ে যাবে।

ট্রাম্পের বিরুদ্ধে বাকি ৩টি মামলা নির্বাচনের আগে আর শুরু হচ্ছে বলে মনে হয়না। ‘জানুয়ারি-৬’ মামলা সুপ্রিমকোর্ট স্থগিত করেছে। কবে শুরু হবে কেউ জানেনা। ফ্লোরিডায় ক্লাসিফাইড ডক্যুমেন্ট মামলা বিচারক আইলিন ক্যানন অনির্দিষ্টকালের জন্যে স্থগিত করে দিয়েছেন। জর্জিয়ায় ট্রাম্পের বিরুদ্ধে নির্বাচনে হস্তক্ষেপ মামলা নিয়ে ঝামেলার অন্ত নেই। সেটি শুরু হতে দেরি আছে। সুতরাং আপাতত: ট্রাম্প শুধু নিউইয়র্কে স্ট্ররমি ড্যানিয়েল মামলা নিয়ে ব্যস্ত। এ মামলাটি বাকি ৩টি মামলা থেকে দুর্বল। ট্রাম্প কি খালাস পাবেন?

He is constantly breaking the gag order, breaking it 10 times so far, the judge is fining him. He said, then he will be sent to jail. This has never happened before in US history. A former president faces criminal charges. He faces up to 4 years in jail if convicted on 34 counts of business fraud. It is called ‘Has Money Trial’ for short.

Trump paid $130,000 to silence model Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Giving money is not a crime, it is said that the process of giving money is illegal. Stormy Daniel testified. Judge Eileen Cannon has put the classified documents case in Florida on hold indefinitely. There is no end to the trouble with the election interference case against Trump in Georgia. It’s too late to start. So for now: Trump is just busy with the Stormy Daniel case in New York. This case is weaker than the remaining 3 cases. Will Trump be acquitted?
